As we move through 2025, Poland’s business services sector (BSS) is more than holding its ground — it is evolving rapidly, attracting global attention, and establishing itself as one of Europe’s most dynamic hubs for CX, BPO, and knowledge-based services.
Drawing from the latest ABSL 2025 report, developed in cooperation with Colliers, Mercer, Randstad, and Randstad Enterprise, here’s a comprehensive view of the current state of the sector: its size, workforce, innovation potential, and strategic direction.
A mature and expanding industry
Poland’s BSS is no longer a back-office cost center. It has matured into a complex ecosystem of competence hubs that deliver high-value services to international clients. As of early 2025:
- There are 2,081 business services centers representing 1,258 companies.
- The sector employs 488,700 highly skilled professionals.
- It accounts for 5.7% of Poland’s GDP and 7.6% of private sector employment.
The industry has grown steadily, even amid global economic headwinds. In the 15 months between early 2024 and Q1 2025, 61 new centers opened — with 90.2% driven by foreign investment. Warsaw remains the leading city with 429 centers, followed by Kraków, Wrocław, and the Tri-City area.
A talent-powered competitive edge
At the heart of Poland’s global positioning is its strong, multilingual, and internationally diverse talent pool. The country offers access to:
- nearly 500,000 professionals working in the sector today,
- a 6.2% year-over-year growth in employment,
- a workforce where almost 20% are foreign nationals from over 50 countries.
There is also a significant shift toward knowledge-intensive roles — with 58.6% of jobs now requiring long-term onboarding and advanced skills. This shift supports complex processes, drives innovation, and makes Poland a preferred nearshoring destination for Germany, the UK, the US, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
Shifting operational models: From back office to value creation
The Polish BSS sector is transitioning from transactional tasks to strategic functions. In numbers:
- mid-office roles now account for 54.2% of operations,
- back-office work has declined by more than 10% in five years,
- the share of knowledge-based roles continues to rise.
This evolution is part of a larger strategic transformation, with 77.4% of companies implementing long-term operational shifts. These strategies are not just about efficiency — they are about value creation, resilience, and innovation.
Innovation and intelligent automation on the rise
Digital transformation is not a buzzword in Poland’s BSS — it’s a measurable reality:
- 74.1% of centers now use Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) — up from 65.2% in 2024,
- 84.6% of firms see Generative AI as a strategic opportunity,
- yet there is still a gap in fully realizing GenAI’s potential.
This innovation drive is not limited to tools — it reshapes services. Over the past three years, 74.5% of companies introduced redesigned processes or integrated global service models. The level of innovation in the BSS sector now exceeds that of the broader Polish economy, particularly in commercial services.
Outlook for 2026 and beyond
Projections for the sector remain strong and structurally optimistic. The number of employees is expected to exceed 504,000 in 2026, supported by continued digital adoption and productivity growth through AI. As more companies expand their service portfolios — 56.4% did so in 2024 alone — Poland’s role is shifting from a cost-effective delivery location to a strategic innovation partner.
Final thoughts
Poland’s business services sector in 2025 is at a strategic inflection point. It has evolved beyond back-office support to become a critical part of the European digital economy. With its talent-driven engine, a growing innovation culture, and deep integration into global value chains, the sector is well-positioned for the next decade.
Whether you’re a multinational seeking a reliable outsourcing partner or a company looking to embed AI-driven CX at scale, Poland continues to be one of the most compelling destinations in Europe.
